Sisters Inc. - a mentorship & creative arts program for underpriviledged girls.

Sisters Inc. was a program for girls nine-twelve years old and adult women mentors. I was the co-founder and Executive Director for three years. Thirteen girls and their mentors participated in a series of six creative arts workshops.  The purpose of the workshops was for the girls to develop their self-expression and self-confidence.  Outside of the workshops the girls and their mentors spent time together getting to know one another through shared excursions, and visiting each other's homes, families and pets. Once a month, they attended mini-workshops offered by others in the community. These activities gave the girls and their mentors opportunities to learn new things and to consider possibilities for themselves that may not fit into the stereotypes of how girls are supposed to be.
